Introduction

 

RAF Hemswell was a Bomber Command Station in Lincolnshire, located between Lincoln and Scunthorpe. It was opened in 1937, prior to World War Two, and finally closed in 1967.

Aims and Objectives of the RAF Hemswell Association

  • To foster and keep alive the comradeship of all who served at Royal Air Force Station Hemswell
    during its thirty year RAF life
  • To promote interest among the local community in preserving one day each year on the third Wednesday
    in September to remembrance and renewal. This day to be known in perpetuity as "RAF Hemswell Day"
  • To hold a Service of Remembrance on the Memorial Parade Ground on RAF Hemswell Day
    to take place generally at 11am.
  • To organise an Annual Reunion with the central day being RAF Hemswell Day.

A Committee of Management is appointed each year at the Annual General Meeting
held generally at 10 am on the day following RAF Hemswell Day.

Membership - If you served at Hemswell in any capacity in the air or on the ground and in any rank, then membership of the RAF Hemswell Association is open to you. Associate Membership is open to others with connections or genuine interests in Hemswell subject to approval of the committee. Annual subscription: £7 including entitlement to receive copies of the official 40-page journal (The Ermine Link) published twice a year.
